New York, NY, June 1st, 2005 – SawYouAtSinai, the online Jewish matchmaking service,
furthered its expansion into event planning by organizing two events over Memorial
day Week End.
For one event, SawYouAtSinai teamed with the Alevy Family Foundation to provide
the first “Back to Camp” Getaway. Four hundred and twenty singles and matchmakers
drove and flew from as far away as Miami, Los Angeles, and even Vienna, to Camp
Moshava, located in the Northeastern Pennsylvania hillside. Traffic, stylish suits,
and hopes of bumping into the “one” at a cafe, were replaced by frisbee tossing
and crisp, mountain air as everyone was given the refreshing opportunity to go “Back
to Camp."
Prominent Orthodox lecturers, Rabbi Binny Freedman of Isralite, Rebettzen Esther
Jungreis of Hineni, and Rabbi Steven Friedman of Ramat Orah Manhattan, spoke to
hundreds of assembled participants, inspiring them throughout the weekend.
Sunday activities included color war games, rope courses, softball games, and just
hanging out. Whilst the relaxing evenings brought bonfires, music and “The Mentalizer”
entertainment show.
One woman quipped after the weekend, "Initially I didn't want to go. My friends
dragged me up here, but now that I actually came, this was one of the best weekends
of my life."
Steven Alevy of the Alevy Family Foundation added, “I can’t imagine doing another
getaway without Marc and the rest of the SawYouAtSinai team by my side. Because
of the organizational know-how and talented matchmakers they provided, people were
at ease during the retreat, even if they weren’t taking down phone numbers. This
let people think not only about themselves, but also about their friends, bringing
out the ‘inner-matchmaker’ in everyone.”
In addition, on Monday May 30th, SawYouAtSinai helped organize the L’Chaim 5K run
with Young Israel of Jamaica Estates. With thousands of people attending, the event
raised $70000 for important organizations and causes in Israel. Apart from the run
itself, SawYouAtSinai members participated in painting a mural (to be given to Israeli
Children’s hospitals) and meeting other singles and matchmakers. It was a fun day
for all.
The success of these events will continue, as SawYouAtSinai has already hired a
full-time activities coordinator to expand the site’s events menu, bringing meaningful
entertainment to singles everywhere.
SawYouAtSinai was created in December 2003 to satisfy the need for a more private
and personalized approach to online Jewish dating. This Rabbinic-endorsed site uniquely
combines the power of technology, the accessibility of the internet, and the personal
touch of a matchmaker to serve its 13000 members. SawYouAtSinai has over 280 experienced
matchmakers from diverse backgrounds, focusing on its members’ various age ranges,
religious levels, locations and personalities. With 172 members successfully matched,
SawYouAtSinai continues to benefit Conservative, Modern Orthodox and Yeshivish/Black
Hat singles from Jewish communities throughout the world.
